RAJOURI, January 13: Police today claimed to have solved two cases of theft by arresting the accused and recovering the stolen items/money in their possession.
Chief Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajouri Mohammad Aslam said an FIR case number 10/2022 under IPC Sections 457/380 was registered at Rajouri Police Station after a theft incident took place in a bar/caviste located in Jawahar Nagar during the meantime on January 6th and 7th.
He said that a police team led by SHO Rajouri Fareed Ahmed started an investigation into the case and focused on some suspects during which one suspect namely Zaheer Abbas alias Billa, son of Mohammad Latief, resident of Dagani Nowshera, was arrested.
The SSP said during questioning that the suspect had confessed to the crime. “The defendant was involved in several other theft cases. He was arrested and stolen money of Rs 1.54,000 was recovered during his disclosure,” he said, adding that further investigation into the case is ongoing.
He said another case of theft registered at Rajouri Police Station under FIR 07/2022 under Sections 457, 380 IPC has also been resolved. He said the case was filed on 05/01/2022 after a robbery incident in which the accused scampered off with valuables from a structure. He said that during the investigation of the robbery case by a police team led by SHO Rajouri, a suspect was arrested for questioning.
“The accused identified as Mohammad Showkat son of Mir Mohammad resident of Khari Karmara Poonch confessed during his interrogation that he was involved in this case of theft,” said the SSP, adding that stolen goods including a battery of inverter, a 10 KVA stabilizer, a gas cylinder, two inverters, four electric heaters, two pole heaters, etc. were picked up from the defendant’s rented accommodation in the village of Chowkian Palma. Further investigation into the matter is underway, he added.
