Lucknow: A close alliance between Indian Railways and Post Office, Union Communication Ministry can strengthen the reach of UP’s One-District-One-Product program across India, said Union Minister of Railways, Communication, Electronics and Information Ashwani Vaishnaw after a schedule to dedicate the Postal Common Service Center (PO CSC) and IRCTC services in Lucknow on Thursday .
He said that post offices are constantly improving their operation and services to keep pace with changing times. “No other service provider can match India’s postal service network, which means no one else can be a better CSC than us,” he said, adding that PO’s CSCs would transform the dream. PM Modi to empower rural people with basic services, including booking a train ticket at their nearest post office.
No less than 14,553 post offices in UP will provide CSC services. In addition, in over 9,000 post offices, IRCTC services will also be available. “Together they can amplify the reach of ODOP products and expand it nationwide,” he said.
The Minister praised the UP’s progress on sukanya samriddhi yojana. The Chief Postmaster General, UP, KK Sinha said that, housing 26 lakh of such accounts, the program attracted more than four lakh families this fiscal year.
