In case you missed it, we recently leaked a ton of new Pokémon coming to Pokemon Unite in future updates. With Blaziken appearing to be coming soon, you don’t want to miss this.

However, Dragonite was definitely one of the biggest names on the list, so when the Dragon-Type turned out to be down this Christmas, we were very excited.

Now, Dragonite is making major waves on the new Pokemon Unite tier list.

But is the Pokémon as broken as past additions to the roster?

Pokemon Unite Dragonite Gameplay, Release Date & Moves Revealed

Best Dragonite Build – Pokemon Unite

At the start of the game as Dratini, players will evolve to Dragonair at level 5. After that, they will need to reach level 8 before becoming Dragonite.

It’s definitely a long journey until you hit your full power form, with a few big power spikes with each morph;

Unique abilities

Marvel Scale / Multi-scale

  • Dratini: increases the Pokémon’s defense when affected by a status condition
  • Dragonair: increases the Pokémon’s defense when affected by the status condition
  • Dragonite: Reduces the damage the Pokémon takes for a short time and recharges after triggering

Basic attack

  • Dratini: Becomes an empowered attack every three attacks, projecting water that deals damage and reduces the cooldown of user movements. This attack will also restore Dratini’s HP if hit.
  • Dragonair: Becomes an empowered attack every three attacks, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it hits and reducing the cooldown of user movements. This attack alternates between water and electricity, leaving the opposing Pokémon unable to act for a short time.
  • Dragonite: Becomes an empowered attack every three attacks, projecting water that deals damage and reduces the cooldown of user movements. The empowered attack alternates between water, electrical, and fire damage. If the fire attack hits, it deals bonus damage to enemies.

Level 1/3

Tornado – 8s cooldown – Creates a tornado and unleashes it in the designated direction, dealing damage to enemies hit and slowing their movement speed for a short time.

Dragon breath – 8s Cooldown – Sends a powerful burst in the direction of the user’s choice. On hit, the user’s next Basic Attack becomes a Boosted Attack.

These two beginner moves are great choices for your first pick. Usually we would go for Twister if we go for a high damage Pokémon, otherwise Dragon Breath is a good shot at securing your own kills.

Level 5

Dragon dance – 5s Cooldown – User dances forward, increasing damage dealt, movement speed, and base attack speed for a short time. During this boost, when a Basic Attack hits an opponent, it reduces the cooldown of that move. Each time this move is used, the damage inflicted by the user increases (up to 3 times)
To improve: Further increases movement speed if there are opposing Pokémon nearby when the dance ends.

Extreme speed – 9s Cooldown – User jumps on an opponent and throws them, dealing damage to enemies in an area of effect and slowing them down. Also slows the movement speed of the opposing Pokémon it strikes for a short time and resets Multiscale’s cooldown.
To improve: If the user’s movement speed is reduced and they use the extreme speed, the reduction is canceled.

While both choices give Dragonite extra movement, dragon dancing is a great option for making the Pokémon a real threat. Using it to charge your Hyper Beam or Outrage will cause devastating damage in team or 1v1 combat.

Pokémon Unite Outrage

Level 8

Hyper Beam – 8 Second Cooldown – User aims in a designated direction, charges and releases a beam of light that sweeps across the ground in a straight line. Hyper Beam not only deals damage but also hits enemies for a percentage of their max health. Dragonite is unable to act for a short time after using this move.
To improve: Reduces damage dealt to Dragonite when charging or using this move.

Contempt – 8s Cooldown – User begins to rampage, stomping on the ground, and dealing damage to opposing Pokémon in an AOE. Also triggers the most recently used Enhanced Basic Attack Ability.

During Outrage, all basic attacks become special melee attacks with increased speed. The user is unable to act for a short time after the rampage ends.
To improve: Reduces the duration of shackle effects inflicted on the user during a rampage.

Outrage and Hyper Beam are powerful moves that can turn the tide of any team fight. However, we recommend that you take Hyper Beam if you opt for Dragon Dance.

Using the two moves in tandem will allow you to charge up the move and unleash an incredibly powerful attack. That said, Outrage and Dragon Dance seem like a pretty broken combination with insane DPS right now, too.

Choose whether you want to play Dragonite as a ranged or physical attacker and make your choice accordingly.

Level 9

MOVE UNIT – Draco Impact – Does the user soar through the air before crashing into a chosen area, dealing damage in an area of effect and knocking enemies down. The farther you fly, the more Unite Move is consumed, while Dragonite is immune to obstacles when using this attack.

While Draco Impact isn’t incredibly powerful, its real advantage lies in its reach. Dragonite can fly from one side of the map almost to the other, or jump a shorter distance to use movement more frequently.

Use it to surprise your enemies or even to get an easy score.

Best Dragonite Articles – Pokemon Unite

When playing Dragonite, here are the best things to use in Pokemon Unite.

Pending objects

  • Muscle Band – Increases base attack damage
  • Score Shield – Protects the user when scoring
  • Attack Weight – Increases user’s attack stat after scoring

With these items, Dragonite can stack up to a monstrous damage profile. However, you will need to score frequently to take advantage of the boost.

Alternatively, you can consider taking an energy booster to boost your Unite Move and Hyper Beam combo.

Battle objects

As expected, Eject Button is a good option on Dragonite. It’s always nice to have a little extra movement, and Dragonite is by no means a tank.

Dragonite Strategy in Pokemon Unite

  • Take into account the next boosted attack. With Outrage in particular, Dragonite takes advantage of choosing his basic attacks wisely.
  • When using the dragon dance, always be dancing. Basic attacks will reduce the cooldown of movement, allowing frequent use and fast charging of your Hyper Beam.
  • Use Draco Impact to fly over the map and surprise enemies. Due to its power, it is good to keep the knowledge of the map in mind, finding the best opportunities to crash.
  • Keep in mind that Draco Impact only uses part of its charge if you move somewhere nearby. With that in mind, you could potentially unite more than the enemies expect.
